There were 57 BA Teammates that traveled to Boca this past
weekend for the 3rd Annual Scotty Invite. There were plenty of good
swims to talk about! 59% Best Times, 12 New Junior Olympic
Qualifying Times and 2 New Team Records!
The following Teammates achieved New Junior Olympic Qualifying
Times: Fernando Bohorquez, Isabella Communale, Vanessa Comunale,
Anton Juzjomkin, Thea McKenna, Julien Pinon, Loury Rodriguez,
Joshua Stoute and Tessa Sandbrook.
The following Teammates set New Team Records
Nico Medina--500Free, and 50Back
Here are a few things that went really well...and not so well.
1. Starts, Streamlines and Pushoffs--This was a major area
of improvement. it was great to see BA Teammates geting out there
on the start and breakouts! Off the walls BA swimmers did a
good job of kicking off the walls and getting good speed and
distance on their turns.
2. Finishes--This was an area of monderate improvement--BA
Swimmers did a better job of racing into the finish, but there were
still a lot of swimmers either guesssing where the wall was or
breathing inside the 5 yard mark. Stay disciplined on
finishes you should be counting your strokes from the flags to the
wall on EVERY Stroke not just back...practice your finishes every
repeat every day!
3. Connecting the dots---We did not do a good job of
relating our training to racing this past weekend. There were way
too many swimmers that had less than 50% Best Times. That is a
accurate reflection of how consistent a swimmer has been in
training in all three phases of improvement: Attendance,
Technique, and Effort. A good swimmer who consistently improves will
be achieving in all three of these areas in practice every day.
There are only a couple of meets left before Divisions,
Sectionals, Junior Olympics, and Senior Champs...learn from waht
you did well and learn more from what you did not. Lets step up and
see some great swims at the endo of the Short Course Season!!
